The new PETA ad campaign features Miss Nia Long! Yay!! I think this is such a good look!!! Nia looks amazing and it's all for a good cause! The fur in industry is soooooooo horrible and inhumane that i dont know where to begin. The cruelty that is done to animals ( being skinned alive or beaten to death and then skinned ) just for the sake of "fashion" is the lowest of the low. Sooo, yay for Nia this looks hot and means a lot! :)

The Skin I am In

I came across some videos on youtube that really opened my eyes to a worldwide condition of self hate. I dont know why i thought the battle between skin color was only reserved for blacks and African Americans and Afro Americans and Negros and Niggericans and "Us" in the "Colored" section of life, but it seems that this obsession with white being closer to everything holy and acceptable is not only present in the Western hemisphere of the world. In relation to skin bleaching, companies market their products by making "us" feel our skin is not good enough, and we are in our skin, so really their marketing technique is saying that "we" are not good enough! For years, i have heard of Black people bleaching their skin in hopes of scoring a better job, or being socially accepted, or even gaining attention from the opposite sex...all of which sounds so pathetic and crazy, but i just happened to stumble upon a few bleaching cream commercials that are advertising to Indian, Chinese, and Pakistani women!!!! I was shocked to learn that this is not only going on here in America, but in Asia as well! When will all people of color wake the hell up and realize that our skin, our culture, and we as human beings are beautiful as we are. White people who are making money off of us by brainwashing us to feel that we are not worthy enough is sickening, and at the expense of people around the world damaging their health just to become lighter while white people stay at the tanning salon and injecting all kinds of shit into their ass and lips to look like us...why????? Live, Love, and spread Peace...not ignorance. Everyone is Beautiful!!!!

A New York State of Mind

The one thing i always wanted to do the most was travel. Exploring a new place, new faces and smells, learn a new map and print another boarding pass. Being far from home, surrounded by the unfamiliar is so refreshing. My mind is often drawn to the memories of a trip i took to New York. The electricity of being in the city is overwhelmingly fascinating! A constant hum of movement....a hub of excitement and uncertainty. From the summertime heat to the faint smell of garbage on every street, a blur of yellow cabs, the coffee shop on the corner with jazz, and every couple was in love. Greekindianchineseitalianpuertoricanjamcianafrican-ism, a world of culture crammed into a concrete box, no space to walk, and being lost in the Bronx in afternoon traffic for 3 hours is another tale and a trek of its own, Harlem is like home and i found out about what Malcom wrote and breakfast at Sylvia's was early but the real deal, Brooklyn was the face to all my favorite Planet's lyrics, and Times Square is even more mad after dark.

Cats, rats, dogs of plenty, and who could forget the "iron worms" of the underground mixed with the sound of clatter and always noise is the soundtrack. Three days was not the lifetime it would take to uncover the hidden treasures and unparalleled paths of this city. I could write a novel on the graffiti alone and the everyday poets of the streets i have seen, but even that would not be enough. I somehow found myself in all of the chaos where my peace was lost in the place of dreams and lights.

Pills and planes are both the same
Both call my name to come fly and distract me from life's eye
So, i turn clicks and plan trips hoping to satisfy this need to stay high
The ground is too occupied with lies, 500 channels and nothing's on, late nights alone, telephones, school loans, 2 hour rides home, a bunch of shit i cant afford...and even if could i wouldnt buy it, bad porn, loud horns, and fur off animals backs, blackjack, how many cars got an Obama sticker on the back? bogo, no time to talk i gotta go, the weight of saying "I love you", BBQs...all of this just to get by!
How many pills i got left?
How much money to book that flight?
Maybe i just need God in my life or maybe my love will keep me warm
